Thinking of applying to the 2012 Teach for America? Great! Now roll up your sleeves and get ready to write. TFA applicants must submit a 500-word letter of intent and a 500-word essay. This workshop, which will include a review of successful samples, insider strategies, and exercises to get you started, will help you with both important pieces of your application.

In this workshop, we'll consider the general principles for writing convincing and persuasive personal statements, and we'll read and discuss some successful examples.
●Writing Peace Corps Application Essays Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. (Sec. 1) OR Thursday, Nov. 10 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. (Sec. 2)
Applying for "the toughest job you'll ever love"? This workshop, led by two returned Peace Corps volunteers, will discuss how to draw on one's experiences to write effective Peace Corps application essays.
●On the Academic Job Market: Writing Statements of Teaching Philosophy Thursday, Sept. 22 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. (Sec. 1) OR Friday, Oct. 28 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. (Sec. 2)
Intended for advanced grad students preparing to enter the academic job market, this workshop will focus on what a statement of teaching philosophy is (or ought to be), what it should include, and what it should look like.
●On the Academic Job Market: Selling Yourself with Cover Letters Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. (Sec. 1) OR Friday, Nov. 4 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. (Sec. 2)
This workshop is an introduction to effectively using your cover letter to demonstrate how you are the most qualified candidate for the academic position.
