Nurse Practitioner Program

Admission Requirements

Students are admitted by the UW-Madison Graduate School upon recommendation of the School of Nursing. Priority application deadlines are March1 for Fall and Summer admissions and October 1 for Spring admissions. Applications may be submitted beyond these dates if time and program space allow. No applications will be considered less than 6 weeks prior to the start of the semester.

The requirements for admission to the Master of Science (M.S.) program are:

• Graduation from a nationally accredited baccalaureate program in nursing·
• College-level statistics course completed with in five years of admission·
• Grade point average of at least 3.00 (4.0 basis) on the last 60 credits of the most recent baccalaureate degree·
• Satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)·
• Statement of professional goals and reasons for graduate study·
• Three letters of reference·
• One year of professional nursing experience is recommended·
• Licensure as a professional nurse

Students must possess a Wisconsin registered nurse license before enrolling in N613 Clinical Preceptorship for Nurse Practitioners I.
